Bipedalism, or 'two-footed walking', is the story o f a paint er who grew up in an orphanage and on ly years later learns the circumstances of his fathe r's disappearance and death. C hildhood memories b ring the main charact er ba ck to the past he buy s a house in the subur bs that used to belong t o his fa mily. In the basement, he finds his father's archive s and sci entific research documents on the hybridiza tion of human race with relate d bio logical spe cies. Studying the archive mat erial, he u nexpectedly finds evidence of efforts to renew the exper iments on the remai ning hybrid population . The painte r then bec omes a researcher, and consequentl y a vict im. The bas ic idea of his fat her's resea rch was to change, control a nd influence the p rocess of human evolution - in itially connected w ith eugenics theories of t he period bef ore World W ar II, and now being placed in a context of modern ' biotechnologi cal' expectations by his former c olleagues. T he m ain chara cter t ries to recreate and realize his fathe r's he ritage, wh o wa s forced to cooperate with state terror organiza tions, using the results of his secret research. In a tra gic manner, this information tur ns into the main ch aracter's reality, at first forcing him to reappraise hi s father's values and lat er driving him to madness.
