Series Eighteen starts airing on 29 Jan uary 2012 with seven episodes (not including the India Special),[1] followi ng on from the 2011 Christmas speci al which ai red on 28 December 2011.[2] I n the special they ta ke a r oute across I ndia, t he first of the many cou ntries Top Gear plans to visit over t he course of the new s eries, according to Jeremy Cl arkson. Shooting in India began o n 2 October , with the first leg of th e sho otin g beginning in suburbs of Mumb ai.[3][4] The show was also seen in Lecce, Italy with a Noble M600, McLaren MP4-12 C and a L amborg hini Aventador. [5] Hammond announced during the Top Gear Live shows in B irming ham, that addit ional recordings for the ne w series had been done in the USA. T he Januar y 2012 edition of Top Gear Magazin e featured a preview o f what to ex pect in series 18.[6] It i nclu ded a piec e where Richard Hammond drives a NASCAR safety car for a real race, later going on to drive an actual NASCAR race car. The m agazine also featured a part of s ome of the power tests to expect, incl uding Je remy Cl arkson driving a Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Bl ack E dition, a Mercedes SLS AMG Roadster and a Maserati Gr anTuri smo MC Strad ale. Hammond mean while will drive a 2012 BMW M5 F10, and May will have a Vauxhall Corsa N ürburgring Edition. Another featu re i s going to C hina to test drive C hinese cars, Ita ly in 3 super-cars, Lamborghini Aventador, No ble M600 and a M cLaren MP4-12C. Also James May i s taking a t rip to USA to test spo rts hybrid supercar Fisker Karma, m eet ACDC fron tman Brian J ohnson and drive his 1928 Bentley Vanden Plas LeM ans Toure r. Ac cording to Top Gear Executive Producer Andy Wilman, Clarkson, Hamm ond and May are going to n orthern Sweden as well, where they wi ll race the new Ferrari FF across a Silverstone Circuit-sh aped ice track. Also Jeremy Clarkso n and Rich ard Hammond will attempt to film a car chase sequence for The Sweeney.
