Awkw ard Pierre Blaude ll i s her bigges t fan and eventual ly marries her. Shortly after this sh e bears his son, Pie rre, who joins th e army. Pierre is killed in t he war, and Ce leste flee s to New Yo rk where she finds steady emplo yment as a jazz pianist.
