A few y ears before he went on to make a big splash in the cannibal sub-genre, Ruggero De odato direc ted this successful rip-off of Roman Polanski's brilliant Knife in the Water. Naturally, being an Ita lian film - there's mor e of a fo cus on s ex than the rel ationship between the cent ral couples, but the clau strophobic atmosphere and entertaining characters help to keep the tension bubbling over, whic h ensu res that the movie is interesting for the durati on. The film doesn't have nearly as much 'bite' a s Cannibal Holoc aust and most of the rest of Ruggero Deodat o's filmography, but it's obvious that even with this early film; Deo dato is a director with th e potential to make a mark o n cinema.
