The director Eva ld Schor m (192 9-1988) was o ne of t he most orig inal memb ers of the Czech New Wave. During the no rmalizati on era, Schorm spent many years u nabl e to direct. His last film, Killing with Kindne ss (1988) was only made in the twilight years of C ommunism. During t hat period when he wa s unabl e to direct films, he became an outs tanding stage direc tor.
