Effect s are mini mal and the cast is utterly unknown. I should point out that these are all g ood things, and work very m uch in the film's fa vour . The re is no CGI to re ly on, n o name actors to carry it . Rath er, the f ilmmakers do the unthi nkable they create a genuine a tmosphere o f unimaginable dread and unspeakab le horror, using shadow, suggestion and rar e splashes of that Namele ss colour in a few sele ct frame s. In short, they did a damn good job. Die Farbe is subtle in its mount ing horror, n urturing a dark dread de ep in your bowels wit h every sh ot. All of t he best an d most stom ach- turningly distressing f ilms I’ve ever s een have come out of Ge rmany M, The Cabinet Of Dr. Caligari, The White Ribbon, and now this one. Leave it t o the Ge rmans. We know how to gross you out on the deep est p sychological levels. Lovecraft w orshippers and devotees of German E xpressionism alike, tak e heed see k out and view this film at your earl iest possibl e convenienc e. It’s a dark, noi some little gem that will squirm i nto your subconsciou s and lay its eggs in your sanity.
