In this season, the show wen t back to a iring one new ep isode a week, but stayed in the hour-leng th format, filling up the second half-h our with episo des from previous seasons a nd some of the prime-time specials from the 1980s. This entire season, along with the se cond h alf of season 6, is availabl e on Garfield and Frien ds Vol ume 5 DVD se t. Also worth noting is t hat her e, a new th eme son g was added that was written b y J.R. Jo hnston a nd Neil Panton. The theme was sung b y J.R. Johnston. This theme s ong was not shown internationally, and as a result, it does not appear on the DVDs (al though Garfi eld's quot ations are kept intact). This new int roduction seq uence used most clips fr om S easons 5 -7 a nd a f ew from the first two seas ons, as we ll as Garfield in P aradise and Garfi eld's Feline Fantasies. The episodes stopped using a few se conds of the theme play ing in the episode t itle cards after season seven's fourth episode; music from the episodes were use d in the title cards unt il the show en ded, even th ough season six us ed music fr om some of their episodes.
